FCS AT RHS
Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) educators teach students how to be successful in careers, including those in Food and Nutrition, Culinary Arts, Human Development and Family Studies, and Human Design and Development [Apparel and Interior Design]. Students in middle and high school take FCS courses to develop important skills that aid them in their future homes and workplaces.

At Rutherford High School, there are multiple FCS education courses/electives. Members from our FCCLA chapter and other students from our high school have the opportunity to participate in these courses.

Importance of FCS
Family and Consumer Sciences prepares students for future careers by teaching the importance of nutrition, and assisting them in learning about appropriate childcare practices, financial literacy, resource management, parenting, and the art of positive communication.

In class, students are able to work together to build skills in cooperation, leadership, and even technology.
